Florence Marie Sevigny
of Lowell, MA

LOWELL – Florence Marie “Flo” Sevigny, 97, dies peacefully at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Born August 10, 1920, in Lowell to Albert and Alexandrine Landry, she attended elementary school in Lowell until the death of her mother at which time she left school to help care for her younger brothers and sisters. On December 2, 1939, she married Raymond Sevigny of Lowell. During World War II, she worked as a tack welder in the Navy Yard in Boston and later as a tent stitcher in Lowell. Moving to Portland, ME in 1949, where she was to spend much of her life, she worked as a stitcher for Portland Sportwear, Shultz Upholstery and Glenwood Furniture until retiring in 1982. Shortly after the death of her husband of 46 years in 1985, she moved back to Massachusetts where she remained until her death. Florence was a long-time communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Dracut and will be especially remembered for her love of life. She was active up into her nineties until health problems impacted her mobility. She was an avid bingo and card player and an accomplished seamstress. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Haskell and husband Dana; grandchildren Ashley Bowlin and her husband Mark; Christopher Haskell and his wife April; Matthew Haskell and Rebekah Haskell and seven great-grandchildren all of Virginia; her brother Wilfred Landry of Tyngsboro; sister Lorraine Coughlin of Lowell and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Imelda Latour, Yvonne Goodard, Blanche Boucher, Rita LeDuc and Alberta Penkofski and brothers Edgar and Donald Landry.

SEVIGNY – Relatives and friends are invited to attend Florence’s Life Celebration at the McKenna – Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth St., Lowell, on Monday, December 18, 2017, from 4 to 7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11am, at Saint Francis of Assisi’s Parish, 115 Wheeler Rd., Dracut, MA.
